Hội An

Our first sleep-in for the whole trip was great. We decided to go and check the emails. We had about 16 a lot of them telling us that we shouldn’t go to Turkey because they are bombing Istanbul and tourists sites in Turkey, so we decided to go straight to London. Not a good day today. However, it could all work out for the best. We can organise jobs and then maybe travel somewhere else. After emailing everyone including the travel agent, we set off on our bikes (we hired them for 5000 Dong for the day) and went back to the clothes shop to pick up our stuff. It was fantastic and very cheap Simon’s suit turned out really well and all my clothes are great. Now that we are not traveling for another three weeks we decided to buy more clothes-me a couple of shirts and Simon another suit for work.
We came back to the hotel to drop off the clothes and then rode to the post office to make phone calls home. Very expensive $13 for two minutes. Then we went off to the beach. It cost 1000 dong per bike to park them and then you walk to the beach amid badgering by young kids to buy pineapples.

The beach is lined with shade huts and chairs underneath which are free to sit on if you buy a drink. We went for a walk up the beach and when we came back we had a chat with Kim and Greta from Norway. They were eating shrimp on the beach. We returned to our bikes and made another visit to the post office where we ran into Majella and Sean. After coming back to our hotel with us they decided to have a room here for the next night. We then got ready for dinner.

For the second night in a row, we went to Cafe de Amis. It was another spectacular meal. The set menu changes each day depending on what is at the market that day. The recipes will be on the Internet. After that meal, we went to the turn down. It is owned by French guys are so you could be in any part back home. Relative to other Vietnamese places it is quite expensive but still cheaper than home. We met Craig there and played pool with a Vietnamese and Belgian guy. We had a fun night with a few beers and fruit cocktails. Simon and I rode our bikes back to our hotel at about 12 pm. When we got back to the hotel Simon went upstairs with Craig and Sophie to get their address in France and I was in the room. About five minutes later, It was Majella and Sean at the door. We have left our backpacks at the bar!! Not very good form. After a few sobering thoughts, we went to bed.
