Hue

Arrived in Hue at 8:30 am and quickly got off the train, trying to avoid being pushed back by all the Vietnamese coming aboard. Outside the station, there were heaps of touts trying to get us to go to their hotel. We were walked on in the sweltering heat and reached our hotel. After checking in and showering we set off with Majella and Sean to find a bank and Vietnam airlines. We walked around in circles until we found the place we wanted. We booked our plane ticket and change some money then sold it on in the sweltering heat to find lunch. After lunch, we decided to hire motorbikes and have a look around.
The first stop was to find the man who does boat tours in Hue. Majella and Sean booked their trip and then we headed off to the Citadel. Just spectacular! although really unfortunate that so much of it was bombed in the wars and other conflicts. After walking around there for about an hour we hopped back on the bikes and headed to the dong ba market which was huge. Full of cosmetics, toiletries, material, spices, rice, sugar, meat, chicken, seafood, and other goodies all lying out in the sun with flies all over them. Hence we didn’t buy any.
From the markets, we went back to our room to relax and Majella seems to have developed a stomach bug.
