Cat Ba Island

Woke for breakfast at 7:30. We caught a rickety old bus at 8 am to the Cat Ba National Park where we have three choices of what to do.
1) three hour hike around the National Park.
2) for our hike to Village then lunch and boat back to CatBa
3) walk to the village and back.
We chose option 2. This turned out to be great the walking was quite slippery and parts as it had been raining the day before and we had to climb up and over a few hills. It was quite amazing how there was no animal life around. No sounds, no birds flying overhead. When we reach the village our guide cooked us lunch. Then we walked on along the concreted path to the boat. We were half an hour early so we played hackney sack while waiting for the boat. It was a small vessel with the roof all open. We then stopped along the way and 5 out of the 6 of our group went swimming in beautiful Ha long bay. It was quite cool. Once back on the boat we headed back to the island. As the swell was coming up we couldn’t go all the way around to CatBa so we had to stop at a fishing village along the way. From there we got motorcycles back to CatBa. 2 passengers and one driver. It was great fun. Simon and Sean ended up on the same bike and looked hilarious. After showering and cleaning our boats we had Glayva on the balcony with Majella and Sean and Nigel and Suzanne and went to dinner. We came back to the hotel and played cards and had some beers before going to bed
