Matetic Vineyard

We had a lazy start to the day due to the inclusions and some extras we were unable to resist. Our heads had cleared by the afternoon so we thought we would back it up with a winery tour.

The teenagers were happy sleeping by the pool and taking themselves off to the restaurant for lunch.

The winery is biodynamic and organic. We learnt some interesting things about the use of herbs, flowers, cow horns and local animals to feed and protect the vines. The architecture of the winery was spectacular with an underground cellar where the water run off from the roof garden trickles down through stone walls to keep it cool.

The effects of the Chilean drought was evident with some of the vines having been ploughed in and the property being destocked.

We had another lovely dinner and prepared for our early departure the next morning.
