William Wallace Monument

We slept in a little this morning, went to breakfast at 8:30 and it was the nicest cooked breakfast of all the B&Bs. We set off for the William Wallace monument which towers above the city of Stirling. We arrive before 10 and waited for the shop at the bottom of the hill to open. When the girl arrived she told us along with all the other people there that you can buy tickets at the top. We probably could’ve gone up earlier. We climbed the hill towards the monument bought our tickets then started to climb the 246 steps to the top. There were three stops on the way up, where you can learn about William Wallace. The top was very blowy but what a spectacular view. After trying to get some pennies into drains at the top, we climbed down and headed to Glenturret distillery.
Here we went on a guided tour of the distillery and learned how the whiskey was made. Very interesting at the end we got to have a swig of 12-year mature Whisky.
We drove back to Edinburgh and walked down the Royal mile to an Internet cafe to check out emails. Unfortunately, Simon did not get good news about his Linklaters job. (he did have vomit on his sleeve!) Well, I guess it wasn’t meant to be and it’s on to bigger and better things.
We got to the train station late I stayed with the bags and Simon filled the car with petrol and took it back to Hertz then we literally sprinted all the way got to the train station with 10 mins to spare.
Back to London to find work!
