We woke to the sound of a knock at the door. Wake up knock. 6.45am. No chance of a sleep-in. We headed off at 8 am in the bus to the boat to travel to the floating market. So that we could see better they took the cover off the boat, so it was bloody hot. The markets were a mush of boats with long propeller arms lifting out of the waterfall over the place. It’s a wonder someone doesn’t get decapitated or lose an arm. A lot of people seem to live on the bigger boats and sell their produce from there while others come along in their little boats. Lots of turnips, cabbage, tomatoes, shallots were being sold and things that I am not quite sure of.

From the markets, we continued on our boat and then got out to look at the private homes of the people in the Mekong Delta, where there was a terror of a kid who was karate kicking everyone and dragging other kids along the ground. The funny thing was, when one of the German guys was swinging the kids around the terror got scared. From there we caught a boat back to the bus and then the bus back to Saigon. As we pulled in, we saw Peter and Glenys at the Sihn Cafe, having a beer. We joined them for a short while, had a shower, and then went in search of the recommended restaurant 13.

We seemed to walk forever, but with persistence, eventually found it. The meal was quite good. Following dinner, we ordered cocktails on the top of the Rex Hotel which is where the press used to sit and write their stories during the war. Expensive, but nice. We got back to the hotel at around midnight and we were locked out!! – we thought…No they were waiting for us. zzzzzzz…….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
