Sunday 30th July
\nWe started our day with breakfast and then our driver ‘Ra’ picked us up at 8.30 to see Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world. We hired a guide which was almost essential to have any understanding of the significance of the structure.\u00a0It was originally constructed as a Hindu temple of god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. \u00a0It is surrounded by a moat 1.5km x 1.3km which can be crossed by a stone bridge, although currently being restored so a floating bride has been temporarily put in place. \u00a0Hundreds of locals have been coming out just to see the floating bridge.<\/p>\n

Monkeys were all around as we made our way through on of the entrances into the temple.<\/p>\n

Next to Ta Prohm, the ultimate Indiana Jones fantasy, look like the temple has been swallowed by the jungle<\/p>\n

Then Bayon temple with its multitude of smiling faces of Budda<\/p>\n

Back in town we went to the local gelato shop for ice cream and beer and card playing<\/p>\n

Then Tuk Tuk tour of the city and he dropped us at our chosen dinner stop of Try Me – meals were $3.50 and delicious<\/p>\n

Then a walk back to our hotel – and a quick Henna Tatoo<\/p>\n
