Wales – Caernarfon

Breakfast at the hostel before boarding the bus for Beddgelert. The grave of Gelert -, a dog that saved the local lords baby son from a wolf. Unfortunately for Gelert, his master shot him thinking that he had killed the baby. From here we hiked down the valley, through a long dark tunnel to emerge on the other side of the mountain and returned along the side of the creek.

Next was the town of Caernarfon with its large and well preserved 13th century castle, with swinging bridge over the harbour entrance and a few good pubs for lunch on the seaside, overlooking Anglesey across the Menai straight.

Slate Mine

An afternoon visit to a slate mine, a viewing of Mount Snowdon before returning to Corris for beers and bed.
